Die Konserwatiewe Party, dit is nou die party wat nooit as “regs” of “nasionalisties” beskou wou word nie, en wat bekend was vir leierskap wat hulle wind na die seile gespan het, leef steeds voort in die drome en verbeeldingsvlugte van sekere mense. Dit ondanks die feit dat die oordeel oor die KP reeds gevel is. Die titel van ‘n boek wat ‘n jaar of wat gelede oor die KP verskyn het, naamlik “Vegters teen Politieke Boelies” is uiters “gepas” op hierdie politieke waterloot. Die KP het deurgaans soos skoolseuns wat “geboelie” is, opgetree en hulle lot by ander bekla.

Die chaos in die onderwys behoef sekerlik nie debateer te word nie. As die onderwys owerheid egter na vier jaar eers tot die besef kom dat hulle stakende onderwysers se salarisse behoort af te trek en dan agterkom dat hulle nie meer rekord het van wie gestaak het en wie nie, kan ‘n mens ‘n idee vorm waar die oorsprong vir die chaos setel. Om egter dan te besluit om deur die bank salarisse af te trek waardeur pligsgetroue onderwysers onregmatig benadeel word, is aanduidend van die minagting wat die regime vir onderwys en opvoeding het.

When a spokeswoman for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said at a news conference on March 17 that Japan has the financial means to recover from its devastating tsunami, skeptical bloggers wondered what she meant. Was it a polite way of saying, "You're on your own?"
Spokeswoman Caroline Atkinson said, "The most important policy priority is to address the humanitarian needs, the infrastructure needs and reconstruction and addressing the nuclear situation. We believe that the Japanese economy is a strong and wealthy society and the government has the full financial resources to address those needs."
Asked whether Japan had asked for IMF assistance, she said, "Japan has not requested any financial assistance from the IMF."

The recent TOO article by Dr. Lasha Darkmoon on Rachel Corrie is indicative of the emotional appeal of the Palestinian cause. There is a powerful moral message: An attractive young woman motivated by a sense of moral idealism brutally murdered while trying to help an oppressed people — people who are ethnically and religiously different from herself. On the face of it, it would appear to be a case of self-sacrificing altruism.
There are other similar examples of what Christopher Donovan labels the “Amy Biehl Syndrome,” after the young woman who was murdered by a crowd of South African Blacks she had come to help.
