AND WHY JESUS DOES NOT QUALIFY

Christian missionaries, like Jews for Jesus, claim that Jesus is the Jewish messiah!

Why has Judaism rejected this assertion for 2,000 years?

The concept of the Messiah has its foundation in our Jewish Bible, the Tanach, which teaches that all of the following criteria must be fulfilled before any person can be acknowledged as the Messiah:

● Messiah must be from the Tribe of Judah and a Descendant of King David and King Solomon

The Messiah must be a member of the tribe of Judah (Genesis 49:10) and a direct descendant of King David and King Solomon (2 Samuel 7:12-14;   1 Chronicles 22:9-10). Genealogy in the Bible is only passed down from father to son (Numbers 1:1-18).

There is no evidence that Jesus really had this pedigree, and the Christian Bible actually claims that he did not have a "birth-father" from the tribe of Judah descending from David and Solomon (Matthew 1:18-20).

● Ingathering of the Jewish Exiles

When the Messiah is reigning as King of Israel, the Jewish people will be ingathered from their exile and will return to Israel, their homeland (Deut. 30:3; Isaiah 11:11-12; Jeremiah 30:3, 32:37; Ezekiel 11:17, 36:24). This has clearly not yet happened and we still await its fulfillment.

● Rebuilding of the Holy Temple

The Temple in Jerusalem will be rebuilt (Isaiah 2:2-3, 56:6-7, 60:7, 66:20; Ezekiel 37:26–27; Malachi 3:4; Zechariah 14:20-21).  The Temple was still standing in Jesus’ day. It was destroyed about 38 years after Jesus’ crucifixion and it has not yet been rebuilt.

● Worldwide Reign of Peace

There will be universal disarmament and worldwide peace with a complete end to war (Micah 4:1-4; Hoseah 2:20; Isaiah 2:1-4, 60:18). Wars have increased dramatically in the world since the advent of Christianity.

● Embracing of Torah Observance by All Jews

The Messiah will reign as King at a time when all the Jewish people will observe G-d’s commandments (Ezekiel 37:24; Deut. 30:8,10; Jeremiah 31:32; Ezekiel 11:19-20, 36:26-27).

Jesus never ruled as King, nor have all Jews embraced the commandments of G-d’s Torah.

● Universal Knowledge of G-d

The Messiah will rule at a time when all the people of the world will come to acknowledge and serve the one true G-d (Zechariah 3:9, 8:23,14:9,16; Isaiah 45:23, 66:23; Jeremiah 31:33; Ezekiel 38:23; Psalm 86:9; Zephaniah 3:9). This, as well, has not yet taken place and we await its fulfillment.

● A Biblical Portrait of the Messiah

All of these criteria for the Messiah are found in numerous places in the Jewish Bible. One foundational example is in the book of Ezekiel, Chapter 37:24-28:

“24 And My servant David will be king over them, and they will all have one shepherd, and they will walk in My ordinances, and keep My statutes, and observe them 25 and they shall live on the land that I gave to Jacob My servant, in which your fathers have lived; and they shall live there, they, and their children, and their children’s children for ever; and My servant David will be their prince for ever.

26 Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it will be an everlasting covenant, which I will give them; and I will multiply them, and will set My sanctuary in their midst forever 27 and My tabernacle shall be with them, and I will be their God and they will be My people. 28 And the nations will know that I am the Lord who sanctifies Israel, when My sanctuary is in their midst forever.”

Anyone can claim to be the Messiah or a group of people can claim that someone is the Messiah.

However, if that person fails to fulfill all the criteria found in the Jewish Bible, he cannot be the Messiah. According to the Christian scriptures, Jesus seems to have understood this. As he was being crucified by the Romans, he cried out "My G-d, my G-d, why have You forsaken me?" (Matthew 27:46)

● The Christian Rebuttal

In order to deal with Jesus’ failure to fulfill the Biblical messianic prophecies, missionaries argue that he will accomplish them when he returns in the future. It is important to understand that this doctrine of a "second coming" is an admission that Jesus did not fulfill the Messianic criteria. This rationalization for his failure certainly provides no reason for accepting him as the Messiah today. Furthermore, the Jewish Bible does not have a Messianic "installment plan" where the Messiah comes, fails in his mission, and then returns thousands of years later to finally succeed.

 

Missionaries will claim that because Jesus performed miracles, he must be the Messiah. We, however, have no real evidence that Jesus actually performed any miracles. More significantly, even if Jesus did perform miracles, they would not prove that he was the Messiah.    Our Bible never says that we will be able to recognize the Messiah through the miracles that he will do. The Torah actually teaches that even false prophets can have the ability to perform supernatural miracles (Deut. 13:2-6).

● The Real Messiah

 

As Jews, we prefer to wait for the "real thing" according to G-d’s promises and guidelines. The Jewish Bible provides a clear and consistent description of what the world will look like when the Messiah comes – and this has clearly not yet transpired. So, we still await the coming of the true Messiah, may he and a utopian world come soon!

Jewish Leaders Pose As Pastors -

Pan Gibson's 'Passion'

ORLANDO, Florida (AP)) -- Leaders of two Jewish groups are giving negative reviews after posing as pastors so they could attend an advance screening of Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ."

Abraham Foxman of the Anti-Defamation League and Rabbis James Rudin and David Elcott of the American Jewish Committee sat among thousands of pastors, who had been addressed earlier in the day by Gibson himself. They registered for the conference under a fabricated church name and signed a non-disclosure agreement regarding contents of the film.

 

But afterwards, they called reporters to complain that the movie includes a verse from the Gospels that historically has been used to blame the Jewish people for killing Jesus. In Matthew 27:25, Jews calling for Jesus' crucifixion say, "His blood be on us and on our children."

Two leading Jewish groups gave a thumbs-down to Mel Gibson's new movie about Jesus, death. Officials of the Anti-Defamation League and American Jewish Committee who saw the film at separate screenings said it echoed centuries-old charges that the Jews were behind the crucifixion. "At every single opportunity, Gibson's film reinforces the notion that the Jewish authorities and the Jewish mob are the ones ultimately responsible for the crucifixion," ADL National Director Abraham Foxman said. David Elcott, director of interreligious affairs for the AJCommittee, said the movie offers an "ugly" vision of Jews and "reasserts offensive stereotypes about Jews that Catholic and Protestant leaders have overwhelmingly rejected."

Who Killed Jesus Christ?

Modern people think they know the answer to the question, "Who killed Jesus Christ?" They answer as they have been instructed: all of ours sins sinners killed Jesus generally, and the Romans in particular were responsible .

Our sins did indeed contribute to the anguish, torment and death which Jesus suffered. Pontius Pilate is a stand-in for every weak, compromising Lunchpail Joe and Retirement Harry throughout time who will only try to do the right thing if it doesn't cost them personally. Pilate's wife put a harbinger of spiritual doom in Pilate's ear, but the Jewish mob served up a more immediate threat for Pilate to contemplate: the wrath of Caesar.

Pilate chose the friendship of his boss in Rome over friendship with the King of the Universe. How many times has each of us made a similar choice -- of expedience over principle? Yes, we are all guilty.

Yet, when the account of the trial, torture and execution of the Son of God is reduced to only a universal poster for human depravity in general, a truth at the heart of this sacred history is denied.

At this time of year sincere Christians endeavor to walk again in the footsteps of our Savior as he emerged from his 40 day fast to beg His Father in the Garden at Gethsemane to let the cup of an excruciatingly painful and shameful immolation, pass by.

In endeavoring to penetrate as deeply as we can the mystery of the death of Jesus, it is necessary that all the factors in his murder are considered and encountered. Truth demands it. It is a denial of the Cross to slink away from the truth as did all but two of the followers of Jesus on the Day of His Crucifixion.

We cannot content ourselves, out of fear and political correctness,  with referring to those who conspired to kill Him in bland, generic terms as "the Chief Priests and the People.”

In the case of Judas, New Age gnostics paint him as a a misunderstood anti-hero who made possible the divine atonement by bringing about the inevitable Sacrifice that opened the gates of heaven. Without Judas, they say, Christ could not have fulfilled His mission. This assertion is presented to Gnostic initiates as a specially insightful esoteric revelation.

But it ignores the plain meaning of Jesus words: "Woe unto the world because of offenses! For it must needs be that offenses come; but woe to that man by whom the offense come! (Matthew 18:7).

Judas was not freed from the consequences of his betrayal by some occult notion of him serving as a righteous instrument of the inevitable. Some sinner was going to offend God and betray His Son. It tuned out that that someone was Judas Iscariot. Woe unto him!

The religion of Judaism, when it became enamored of the oral traditions and superstitions of men, became the idol that blinded the Jewish leadership and then the people, to the fact that their Messiah had arrived and was in their midst. Initially he had come only for them.

In the modern papal teaching "Nostra Aetate," of 1965, it was declared, "...the Jewish authorities and those who followed their lead pressed for the death of Christ (John 19:6); still, what happened in His passion cannot be charged against all the Jews, without distinction, then alive, nor against the Jews of today. Although the Church is the new people of God, the Jews should not be presented as rejected or accursed by God, as if this followed from the Holy Scriptures."

True, "it cannot be charged against all Jews."  But as for the statement, "His passion cannot be charged against the Jews of today" this is without any Biblical or patristic foundation. It is a heretical fabrication.

The Pharisees had the major instigating role in the murder of God's Divine Son. Those who derive their spiritual patrimony from the Pharisees are today known as Orthodox Jews. Because of their belief, and not because of their alleged racial descent, these modern-day Pharisees despise and would crucify Jesus again, if they could. How do we know this? The most revered of all the rabbis in the history of the West is Moses Maimonides. He is admired by liberals and conservatives, the Left and the Right, and most significantly, by the Orthodox wing of Judaism, for whom he is the paradigm of a great sage.

 In his tract, Avodat Kochavim, Rabbi Maimonides issued a divine mandate to kill the "wicked" Jesus Christ, as well as all Jews who follow Him, and all those who do not follow the Talmud. Maimonides wrote, "It is a mitzvah (religious duty highly pleasing to God), to destroy Jewish traitors, minim (Christians), and apikorsim, and to cause them to descend to the pit of destruction, since they cause difficulty to the Jews and sway the people away from God, as did Jesus of Nazareth and his students, and Tzadok, Baithos, and their students. May the name of the wicked rot.”

Of the holy name of Jesus Christ, by which “every knee shall bow,” Judaism’s most esteemed and highly praised rabbi says, "May the name of the wicked rot."

Maimonides’ allusion to "Tzadok and Baithos” is a reference to apikorsim, i.e. opponents of the Talmud.

In the Babylonian Talmud (BT) Sanhedrin 43a we read:

"On Passover Eve they hanged Jesus of Nazareth. And the herald went out before him for 40 days and proclaimed, Jesus of Nazareth...practiced sorcery, incited and led Israel astray. Whoever knows of an argument that may be proposed in his favor should come and present that argument on his behalf. But the judges did not find an argument in his favor, so they hanged him on Passover Eve...Did Jesus of Nazareth deserve that a search be made for an argument in his favor? Surely he incited others to idol worship..."

BT Sanhedrin 107b:

Jesus "went and set up a brick to symbolize an idol and bowed down to it...Anyone who sins and also causes the community to sin is not permitted to do repentance. A Sage said: Jesus performed magic and incited the people of Israel and led them astray."

The famous passage from the Gospel of Matthew about the Jews agreeing that Christ's blood would be on them and their children has been used to justify racial hatred for anyone labeled a "Jew." This view is contrary to the New Testament where race is only a determining issue for the proud rabbinic enemies of Jesus, not for Christians.

The Gospel of Matthew has been indicted as the grounds by which countless "Jews" were murdered in pogroms due to the "Blood Libel" (Judaic persons supposedly falsely accused of torturing and murdering gentile children).  Tremendous advantage has been gained for Zionism and Talmudism by the circulation of tales of bloodthirsty priests and Christian peasants attacking and killing Judaic persons on trumped charges of "ritually" murdering gentile infants and children.

These tales of blamelessness and victimhood have an endless shelf life and are recycled year after year in spite of the fact that they are contradicted by no less a figure than Ariel Toaff, the son of the Chief Rabbi of Rome, and Professor of Jewish Renaissance and Medieval History at Bar-Ilan University, just outside Tel Aviv.

Prf. Toaff revealed the reality of Judaic ritual murder of gentiles in his formidably researched and argued masterwork, Pasque di Sangue ("Blood Passover”). He gives strong evidence that in some cases Ashkenazi "Jews" were indeed guilty of the ritual murder of Christian children in Britain and Europe.

If this book had remained in print for more than a few days it might have completely overtuned one of the pillars of Zionist agit-prop. In the ensuing hysteria however, Pasque di Sangue was almost completely suppressed after the author recanted under immense pressure and threats of imprisonment and bodily harm. It makes for sobering Good Friday reading.

Concerning the truth about the death of God on the Cross, St. Paul declared:

"For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews: Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men: Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost." (I Thessalonians 2: 14-16).

Paul's statement is unambiguous. It is not given to interpretation and it is contrary to the current, play-it-safe party line of Church and State.

So who killed Jesus Christ?

For most of its existence the Church proclaimed that beyond the evil that our own individual sins had wrought, and that of the Roman empire and its soldiers and procurators, it was the majority of the Jews of Palestine who caused the death of the Son of God. "Deicide" it was termed in my youth, in the years before Auschwitz.  Now, post "Holocaust," our God is the "Jewish" people themselves. They have replaced the cross with the putative gas chambers. Instead of the "wrath come upon them to the uttermost," it is come upon us.

Who killed Christ? He was killed at Golgotha at the behest of the majority of the Jews of Palestine. The memory of who killed Him -- the how and the why - that too has been killed.
